A key aspect of our mission is working with young people directly, normally in partnership with churches in a particular area. This has seen us working in schools and community drop-ins as well as engaging in detached street work. In summer 2009 we ran a street mission centred around football and music alongside the Keswick in Buckie convention.
Outreach Worker
In 2010 we appointed Steven Hamilton as a part-time outreach worker, charged with supporting our existing ministries and leading mission work across the North East. Steven has been taking part in a number of projects, often partnering with local churches, including:

Schools work in Meldrum Academy and Ellon Academy

Speaking at Breathe and making connections in schools before events

Coordinating summer mission (planned for Kemnay in 2011)

The Project
During 2009-2010 we took part in a partnership project with a number of churches in Mastrick, Middlefield and Northfield in Aberdeen with the intention of building on existing work and establishing further intentional outreach work amoung the community there. As part of this, NOMAD, one of British YFC's sports mission teams, came to the area in May 2009 and had a fantastic time connecting with young people in the area. We also welcomed Tom and Laura, two gap year volunteers with British YFC's ETA year out programme, to join our local team during 2009-2010. They integrated with a number of groups there and worked with many young people over the year. Unfortunately there were a number of management issues surrounding the project and it is currently on hold while the partners reflect on it. Please pray for the area and the young people who were reached by this work, and for the local churches who continue to work with them.
